What I want for Christmas

For Christmas all I want is a Russian Makarov pistol. Last year I got into shooting guns when during our discipleship time my pastor would take me to the gun range for our long talks. We primarily shot pistols and let me tell you it is addictive. Later my friend and I would take full advantage of his fathers membership to the gun range and go as often as we could to shoot assault rifles. I even started to bring my girlfriend with me to shoot huge assault rifles, it was actually cute seeing this tiny little girl lift and very accurately shoot this large gun. I would love to get this gun to take to the gun range and work on accuracy with so that if anyone tries to murder me in the saftey of my home in simpsonville I can act like a true NRA member and accurately bust a cap in him to subdue him in the most ethical way possbile.

Hardest Job EVER

Since i was in tenth grade i have worked two jobs at a time and would consider myself someone who knows what a hard days work is and has a good concept of earning and spending money. I became manager at a rock climbing business and ice cream shop the same year from simply working my way up the ranks by putting in long hours and making tough decisions in the prior managers absence. However the hardest job i have ever had was this last summer working as a intern for a youth group. it was easy on the business side such as cleaning and typing up reports and papers on up coming events. nothing however could have prepared me for what to do to the countless phones calls i would recieve from angry parents or the stress from having ten middle school boys constantly trying to wrestle you every hour of the day. Also it was hard to write a sermon week after week on top of discipleship time with the boys. however i would not trade that experience for the world and even though i cant devote all my time there now due to school i still volunterr and teach and disciple weekly.

Earl Grey Tea

Earl Grey tea has quickly shot up the ranks to become my favorite tea. The leaves of Earl Grey are black tea, but what makes it special is bergamont oil. This oil adds a curiously bitter taste that makes it next to impossible to drink without sweetening first. I have found adding a dollop of soy milk and stevia extract cuts the bitter taste leaving a well sweetened but still very bold tea taste. That is my kind of tea. The tea is called Earl Grey because it was endorsed and popularized by Earl Grey of england when ambassadors from a Asian country brought it to him as a gift. Ear was a wise man. I recommend this tea to anyone looking to branch out from average black tea or boring cold sweet tea.

Sleep is a majestic thing. When you sleep your body conducts many natural processes that are needed to sustain life and prepare you for the next day. Sleep is very important. One will actually die of a lack of sleep sooner than lack of food. Every organ in the body requires sleep to maintain normal function. The sad fact is that i have not had much of this since i began college. In high school there was not much homework so going to bed was always an option on the table. When one lives by him or herself one also has the luxury of “hitting the sack” in any way they please whether it be complete silence or in perfect darkness. In college living in a house with six other strapping young gentlemen this is almost never a possibility. As I continue in my schooling by body dies more and more.

My Favorite Teacher

My favorite teacher during my high school career was named Dori Abbot. Mrs Abbot was a history teacher that was very loving and very very passionate about the history class she taught. You could tell right away history just excited her. She always made the bible come alive in class because as we worked through our lessons she would tell us how each culture we studied impacted and interacted with the isrealites. Mrs Abbot thought outside the box and was able to use each students passions to help them learn more effectively in class. An example of this is that she let me cook a squirrel for the class and explain how it was in the diet of early Anglo-Saxon settlers in Europe. Overall she made learning fun for me.

My Favorite Mode of Transportation

My favorite mode of transportation is my road bike. Last summer i took a trip to Washington state and rode a bike 60 miles from the city of Seattle to the town of Sequim. From this point on I was addicted, I had to get a bike. After two days of being home from my trip i had purchased a Bike of my own and was riding it 25 miles a day to work and back. Biking combines a lot of my interest, it allows me to be out in nature a lot every day and see scenic views also it keeps me in good shape and and have excellent cardio. Biking has saved me lots of money to and from work because I no longer need to buy gas unless it is raining. If everyone in america biked the world would be much cleaner and people would be much thinner.

The best sermon i ever heard was spoken by a youth intern at my youth group in 8th grade. What he was speaking about really applied to my life then and was something i needed to here and can still be applied to anyones life today. Sadly i do not remember any of the references or the context he was speaking from because it was so long ago. However i do remember the message and i know it to be true, the message was simply based around this phrase, “make God your first priority and every thing else in your life with fall in line”. This sermon had a lot of points in it that just really stuck with me and made me rethink how i acted and lived my life greatly.

My Dorm Room

My dorm room at North Greenville is very nice. My room is intended to be a single person bed room which makes it very cramped , but me and my roommate make do with the space we have. Both of us are relatively neat people naturally so we never get into any arguments or have any head butting about our room. Honestly with my mini home entertainment center and all my books on my bookshelf i feel more at home here than I now do at home. It is overall a great room in a nice little house with people i lie to live with.

Favorite Movie

My Favorite movie is Saving Private Ryan. I really enjoyed it due to the filming, message, and action. I felt from being a viewer who has never seen war that the filming really captured what a battle would have been like for someone in world war II. The message was good and bad, but it provoked thought therefore i enjoyed it. The message is simply make you r life in america and even morally worthy of the life the men of our past died in protecting. That cut me deep I sobbed. However I could argue that without God the idea the movie is trying to push is still a worthless unworthy life. I however will not get into that now. Being the man that I am really made me enjoy the action no one can deny it is cool to watch.

Dating

As far as dating goes my view is that it is up to the individual. I am happy to say that i have been dating my girlfriend for a year and six months and we have had a God honoring relationship and she is an encouragement and gift that could never be replaced. Dating is a relatively new term and idea to the latest generations. In our grandparents era all there really was before marriage was courting, in which you pursue someone with the intent of marriage. I believe in a more loose way this should apply more than less to how dating is conducted today. I am not saying you should only date someone if you are sure right off the bat that you want to marry them, but one should keep in mind that this person will one day will be someones husband or wife and they are not to be mistreated or simply “used”. To put it in short i feel you should date for companionship and to learn about that person and to discover if they are someone you would one day want to court. That means respect, honor, and responsibility. Someone looking to just be physical or wants a boyfriend or girlfriend just to have should not date.
